If you are not local to New York City and retailers that sell tickets to this show DO NOT TAKE YOUR TIME PURCHASING TICKETS!
I think that goes double for Saturday. In the past we have been able to wait until September but this year appears to be much different as the shows popularity has increased tremendously. Last year the show was overcrowded and from what I saw past the maximum capacity.
From what I hear this is partly due to the promotion of The Walking Dead on the badges two years in a row. Having such similar badges caused confusion with staff and wound up allowing 2011 badges in. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen again. Please, I like The Walking Dead very much but change the badges up this year NYCC.
There may have been a cut back in the amount of tickets released or maybe it has to do with how they are rolling out the tickets in waves this year. NYCC opened sales for VIP and 4 day back in February which sold out rather quickly. The affordable VIP's sold out with in 20 minutes and I know this because I logged on at 12:20 looking for a VIP and found 4 day and the super expensive VIP available. I purchased my 4 day without hesitation sensing they will sell out.
3 Day tickets were then released and just a few weeks ago it was announced that online sales have been sold out.
However, some retailers will be selling tickets. Traditionally, 3 day and single day tickets. In the past retailers have not sold VIP or 4 day tickets and I don't expect that to change. These retailer tickets have not been released yet. So if you missed your 3 day when they were available online make sure to snatch one up from a retailer as soon as they become available. If you're not near a retailer selling them ask your New York friends to help you out.
Alas, if you are looking for a single day ticket. Do not wait! Buy them before they are gone. The early bird catches the worm right? So make sure to log in and purchase your ticket on June 19th at 12:00pm EST.
